Privacy Policy

Macrobatch ("we", "us", "our") operates the Macrobatch website and application. This policy explains how we handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). By using Macrobatch you agree to this policy.

1. What we collect

  • Account: one email and password (stored hashed) per household, plus an optional household name. The login is shared by the household.
  • Household member profiles: names or labels, age, sex, height, weight, activity level and goal, entered by the account holder to compute calorie and protein targets. This can include details about children in the household.
  • Food data: meal plans, recipes, ingredients, shopping lists, pantry entries, and any recipe photos uploaded.
  • Communications: feedback and bug reports sent through the site, and your email address if you subscribe to updates.
  • Technical and usage data: session cookies, device and browser information, IP address, and log and error data.

2. How we use it

We use personal information to: provide and operate Macrobatch; create your household account and authenticate you; compute calorie and protein targets and generate shopping lists and prep plans from your data; respond to your enquiries and support requests; send you service and, where you have opted in, product-update emails; monitor, secure, debug, and improve the service; and meet our legal obligations.

3. Disclosure to service providers

We use trusted third parties to run Macrobatch, and we disclose personal information to them only as needed to provide the service. These include:

  • Amazon Web Services for application, database, and file hosting.
  • Cloudflare for website hosting.
  • SMTP2GO for sending email.
  • EmailOctopus for managing the product-updates list (only if you subscribe).
  • PostHog for website analytics.

We do not sell your personal information.

4. Overseas disclosure

Some of our service providers store or process data outside Australia, including in the United States, the United Kingdom, and the European Union (for example Amazon Web Services, Cloudflare, SMTP2GO, EmailOctopus, and PostHog). Where we disclose personal information overseas we take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled consistently with the APPs.

5. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss, and unauthorised access, including encryption in transit, hashed passwords, and access controls. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Retention

We keep personal information for as long as needed to provide the service and to meet legal, accounting, and compliance obligations. You can ask us to delete your account data, and we will do so unless we are required to retain it by law.

7. Access and correction

You may request access to the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it, by contacting us at privacy@macrobatch.com. We will respond within a reasonable time. If we decline a request we will tell you why.

8. Information about your household members

When you enter information about other household members, including children, you are responsible for having their agreement, or parental authority, to do so. We process this information only to provide the service to your household.

9. Cookies and analytics

We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and to operate the site. We also use PostHog for website analytics, which helps us understand how Macrobatch is used and improve it. You can control cookies through your browser settings.

10. Direct marketing

If you subscribe to updates we will only email you about Macrobatch, and every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link. You can opt out at any time.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here and change the "Last updated" date above.
